Coffee Stack and Spice Stack

If you have watched many of my YouTube videos you might notice that i have quite the collection of kitchen gadgets and appliances. So many in fact I honestly don't know where to put them at the end of the day. Although I love my current apartment vs my old apartment the one thing I am lacking is kitchen cupboards and my pantry. This is where I used to store many of those gadgets I accumulate, So of coarse that only leaves my counter-tops for storage.

This has probably been the craziest year I have had in all my life. Several life changes, mother to a 2 year old (who is now almost 3),  new jobs, and the most traveling I have ever done in a single year. But the point of mentioning that is to further explain how important it is to have consistency, and organization. I also spent the last year and a half housekeeping privately, and  for about 7 months of 2012 cleaning for a local green cleaning agency in Seattle. During my time there, it became increasingly frustrating to go in someones house, on a strict time limit, and have to clean their house from top to bottom. I would have to say my least favorite part of the job was to clean for people for had excessive amounts of clutter on their counter-tops. So in a way it really pushed me to strive for better organization within my own home. After all there is nothing worse than cleaning professionally all day and coming home to clean as well.

This is where the Coffee Stack and Spice Stack Come in super handy. Like many of the houses I have cleaned, and like many of your homes, I had a counter-top standing spice rack as well as a counter-top K-Cup carousel for our Kuerig coffee maker. Each Product probably took up about a cubic foot of space. it might not seem like a lot, but in my tiny kitchen, to be able to clear off that much space makes a world of difference.

In addition to space saving, the Coffee Stack and Spice Stack actually hold more K cups and Spice bottles than my old storage products. For example, my K cup Carousel only held 32 K cups, and with the Coffee Stack I'm able to store 40 K cups in a drawer like storage system that pulls out and lowers so you can easily find your K cup of choice. It has four drawers which each hold 10 K cups. I find this especially nice to designate shelves between myself, my husband and our roommate/nanny.  They also both feature non skid rubber feet to keep the device securely in place so you never have to worry that it might fall out of your cupboard, and they are also stackable! The Coffee Stack measures:  9 1/4" H x 5 1/4" W x 10 7/8" L.

My old spice rack only held 15 jars, and my Spice Stack now holds 18 full size bottles, or 32 small bottles! That's a huge difference! that's up to 2 times as many spices! It even comes with 48 pre printed labels that you can easily place on the outside of each drawer for easily locating the spices you need in a pinch. The Spice Stack measures: 8 1/2" H x 8" W x 10 3/4" D. and also has non slip rubber feet like the Coffee Stack and is also stackable.

I actually love these products so much I plan to get one of each for my mom and step mom, because like myself, they also are in need of some better organizational tools.

Wonderfile Review

One thing many people probably don’t know about me, is that I love to be organized. But with my husband, my step daughter and my baby girl, that isn’t always possible. I couldn’t tell you how often important papers go missing, or how half our mail magically finds itself upon the bookshelf in our entry door piled up in a mess.

As soon as I got my WonderFile, first thing was first… Get rid of all the useless trash and papers I didn’t need. Next, I noticed the two small middle storage pockets. Instantly, three things came to mind: Birth certificates, SS cards, and immunization records.

I love that there are 5 other large pockets. Because there were so many, they were easily dividable into all the different categories I wanted to use my WonderFile for.

For years my husband and I had been in and out of court with his ex, and I can honestly tell you that we have hundreds of documents to prove it. So that was one of the things we use our WonderFile for. We keep all the most current, most important documents in place, such as the parenting plan, divorce decree, child support order, and any other current orders and rulings.

And as for the other sections of my WonderFile, I keep loan documents and credit card statements and bills, so that way every payday, I can pull them all out and begin the bill paying process. I also keep a handy, dandy calculator in my WonderFile just for that reason.

Another section of my WonderFile is used for certificates and awards. All those certificates we accumulate between my husband’s numerous work awards, and his daughters awards she comes home with from school, are nice and safely tucked away from becoming damaged. Soon I will be able to add some of my baby girl’s certificates and awards once she starts preschool this coming September.

One of the other sections, I use for storing my work trainings, certifications, resume, as well as training handbooks for cpr/first aid, etc….

And lastly I use the middle pocket for keeping all my paychecks and stubs in place as well as tax return information, vehicle titles, and my apartment lease.

One of the nice things about the WonderFile is how incredibly portable it is. It folds up nice and securely, and has a good strong handle to carry it by. I definitely like that it is red in color, so its nice and bright and stands out when I am trying to find it.

One thing I must mention is that on their packaging they say it “even has room for a laptop computer”. Yes, perhaps that may be true, but it would have to be a very very small laptop, or a netbook. My laptop most certainly would not fit inside my WonderFile. The other downside to the WonderFile, is that when unfolded is really large at a whopping 34”x27”! That’s about the size of a poster! I don’t know about you, but that’s pretty big, and almost too big to even unfold anywhere. I don’t have a desk big enough, and our kitchen table almost always has stuff on it. But Either way, it still takes up the entire table. So because of that one reason, I can pretty much only use my WonderFile while sitting on the floor, or on my bed, or on a rare day at the table.

Debbie Meyer Greenbags Review & Personal Results

Every single week, I have noticed I am throwing away money. Not literally of coarse, but when I am forced to throw out fruits and veggies that have gone bad before I got the chance to eat them all. Its very frustrating.

Whats worse, is going grocery shopping thinking I still have celery, carrots, and other good stuff at home, so I go home without re purchasing new for that week, only to go home and realize that I should have bought more. What I thought was still good, was actually bad… I guess I could have just done inventory before going shopping, but wouldn’t it just be easier if all my fruits and veggies were still fresh? Wouldn’t that fix my problem and save me a bunch of money?

Well, turns out there is a product for that! The Debbie Meyer Greenbags are another one of my “gotta have it”  food/ kitchen products.

I’m almost certain all of you readers out there have at least one food that comes to mind as you are reading this…

Aren’t bananas just the worst?!  Ours are getting spots in as little as 3 days. Once mine get spots, I just plain wont eat them.

So, as usual we took a trip to our nearest Bed Bath and Beyond, and I picked up some Greenbags. I was able to test and compare the Greenbags against the usual grocery store clear produce bags. I tested cauliflower, celery, bananas, and carrots.

My results:

Celery: the celery lasted 8 days in the Greenbags, it was still nice and green in color, it was fresh, crisp, and when bent, it snapped into a clean break. The celery in the clear produce bag was pale in color, it was rubbery, wilted, and when I tried to snap/ bend it, it would not break. It bent at a 45 degree angle with no breakage or damage…

Bananas: The un Greenbagged bananas started getting spots at about day 4, while the Greenbagged bananas looked as fresh as brand new. By day 8, the unbagged bananas were just covered with spots and bruises, and pretty much only good if I was planning on making banana bread. The Greenbagged bananas still had little to no spots, and were still perfectly fresh.

Cauliflower: After 8 days, the cauliflower in the clear store produce bag was covered in brown spots, a few black spots, and the leaves were extremely rubbery and wilted much like the celery. The Greenbagged cauliflower had maybe one or two brown spots and when I looked at the leaves, they were still fresh and crisp like the Greenbagged celery.

Carrots: After 15 days the carrots left in their original bagging were rubbery and bendy, and the Greenbagged carrots were still as fresh as they were when I bought them.

These Greenbags are simply amazing and I have found that they pay for themselves in about a couple weeks time. On average I was throwing away about $10 in produce every two weeks. They are easily affordable at only $10 per box, and you can get nearly 200 uses from one box. If you use about one bag per week, per fruit or veggie, that’s nearly 10 weeks of usage before you will have to buy more. This is an awesome product and I recommend them to anyone who loves their produce to stay fresh and anyone who loves to save money. I will definitely continue to buy these and I expect I will be gifting out more of them this coming Christmas.

How they work:

They absorb and remove natural ethylene gases that most fruits, veggies and flowers release during the natural ripening process after harvest. Produce exposure to these gases speed up and accelerate the aging process and cause deterioration.

Space Bags Review & Demo

Its spring cleaning time here in the Woolsey household. The winter sweaters and blankets are going back in the closets, but the closets are full… I used to own SpaceBags back in 2004, but I stopped using them after I realized they are not cat proof. Now that I do not own any closet burrowing kitties, and have since decided to try them out again. After we had our princess just over a year ago, we have accumulated enough clothes gifted for her to clothe at least 3 babies. Many of these in larger sizes, which of coarse we will be wanting to hold on to them for quite a while.

I decided to take all of the clothes from the storage bins, seal them in Spacebags, and put them back in the bins. Once doing so, the clothes had shrunken down in size, and I was left with almost half of the bin left to add even more too. After shrinking down all the blankets, I was even able to move the bins to the highest shelf to allow more room below to add yet more bins.

They have such a great variety of SpaceBags, you will find them to fit just about any need. There are Cubes, for big comforters and larger items, the regular ones for clothes, and there is even a colored family set, so you can color coordinate for different family members making it easier to figure out who’s is who’s when sorting.

Not too long ago, I decided to compare an “off” brand when I was shopping one day, and I was not surprised that they did not compare. The clips that help seal the bag would fall of and get lost, they were harder to close the vacuum seal, and just a couple days later I had noticed one of them puffed back up. I don’t think I will use anything other than Spacebags anymore. They did such a great job on my daughter’s closet; they are now in my closet, and my husband’s closet. I love these things so much I recommend them to all my friends whenever the subject of cleaning comes up.

One of my favorite things to do is travel and take vacations, but the hardest part is packing my suitcase. Especially when I usually end up sharing my suitcase with my daughter’s clothes, diapers, wipes, and toys.  It never feels like I have enough room to take everything I want, and even though I am barely able to fit everything I want to bring, it is inevitable that I will be coming home with even more than I left with. So you can imagine my excitement when I stumbled upon Space Bags To Go, they were exactly what I needed, Travel Space Bags. Unlike regular space bags, these were great because they did not require the need for a vacuum to seal them. The only thing you have to do is roll them up to squeeze out the air!

Shoes Under Review & Demo

Its spring cleaning time in the Woolsey house. Closets are overflowing, and between my husband and I, we have shoes everywhere. Probably about 60 pairs of shoes. In the kitchen area, under the table, at the foot of the bed. There are so many in the closet, half the time I cant even close the closet door. It has been driving me nuts.

When looking for organizing supplies, one product stood out that seemed to remedy our situation. So… I bought the Shoes Under. As soon as I got home, I couldn’t wait to tackle the closets. Pair after pair I started putting my shoes away, until 24+ pairs were neatly tucked into their new home. I had previously been using a 2 tiered shoe rack on my closet floor, in addition to two hanging Closetmaid 10 cubby organizers. I was now able to take them down, and out of my closet, leaving me with at least almost 12 cubic feet of new, usable space! And as far as hanging space that was previously taken up by the hanging cubbies, I gained almost 12 inches of space on the closet rod, in which I could now hang more clothes!

I am definitely loving the added room in my closet, and even better, I am loving the fact that I am not tripping over anymore stray shoes. I have found only one flaw with the shoes under, Is that my feet at size 10/11 womens, with some of my shoes I had slight difficulty to get to fit into their individual storage compartments. It seemed as though they were not quite made for my size shoes. I have a hard enough time finding well fitting clothes at 6 feet tall. Though I was able to make all of my shoes fit, I know that any shoes that may have more than 1 1/2 inch heels will not fit… More than anything I had hoped to store my husbands shoes, whose collection actually rivals my own, I was somewhat disappointed….. Of coarse not everyone has size 13 feet, so it isnt their fault. Its just something to keep in mind when you are out shopping and considering this product. I just want to make sure all of you readers out theredont accidentally spend money on something you cant use.

The Shoes Under was not meant for men’s size 13 shoes. If I could tell the makers any one piece of advice, they should offer a larger size Shoes Under. One for ladies high heels and one for men and women with larger than average sized feet.

I  love the product, It has a great price and its another one that does exactly as its supposed to.

I have seen a lot of imitations out there, and I actually settled for buying one of them when I was unable to get as many Shoes Unders as I needed… DO NOT make the mistake of buying imitations, as they are poorly made. When I tried to pull the knock off out from under my bed, the entire handle ripped clear off! And that was the first time I pulled it out from under my bed since putting it under there.
