Once upon a time I used to own a Bissel carpet cleaner. As nice as it was to have an alternative to scrubbing stains of our floors on hands and knees, I did not like to clean my carpets. The water chamber was too small, it was impossible to clean out, and putting it back together was even worse.
After watching the infomercial for the Rug Dr, I had to have it. It looked so simple! I never understood what made the Rug Dr by far more superior than other household carpet/upholstery cleaners, until recently…. Have you ever noticed that after a while the high traffic areas of your home, the carpet begins to look all matted and bally, and just plain unattractive? I can’t stand that. With my old Bissel, even after cleaning my rugs, that matted look never seemed to go away. I’m going tell you why that is. The difference between the Rug Dr and the average carpet cleaner is that the brushes on the Rug Dr brush frontwards and backwards. Other cleaners, have a spin brush, just like your typical vacuum. Because the Rug Dr agitates the carpet from both sides of each fiber, it extracts the most dirt possible, as well as fluffing your carpet back up and getting rid of that ugly matted look.
My favorite thing about the Rug Dr is that its incredibly easy to use and clean. I am able to fill the water chamber with about 3 pitchers of hot water, plus the cleaning solution. Because it holds so much more fluid, you can go much longer before refilling and emptying the water. Also, when you empty the collection tank, you just dump the yucky water out. The collection tank it essentially a bucket shaped to fit the machine. No worrying about filters or having to juggle the awkward Bissel collection tank and flipping it diagonally and upside down while at the same time making sure not to get the filter all yucky. And then even after with the Bissel I ALWAYS had dirt and small rocks stuck inside, it was like a maze to get out as the tank had so many dividers sections.
I hated cleaning my rugs so much before, I made it my husbands permanent job. Since getting my Rug Dr in February I have already used it 5 times! Another benefit of getting this machine, is the 5 year warranty. It might cost quite a bit of money, but I say it is well worth it. If you are looking to save even more, I would highly suggest getting yours at the nearest Costco.
Now that my daughter is getting a little older, she has a lovely little habit of tossing her food on the floor trying to feed the kitty. Just last night she threw half her plate of macaroni and cheese down on the floor leaving a huge yellowy/orange cheesy mess. I will be using my Rug Dr a little later today in fact, to clean that mess.
I love the attachments that come with my Rug Dr, they are great for furniture, stairs, or other hard to reach places the bigger part of the machine cant reach.
One of the biggest reasons I wanted to buy this exceptional carpet shampooer, is because for the last 9 years I have lived on my own, I have lost every single damage deposit due to the condition of our floors. And I have moved about 5 times… That’s a lot of money lost. So for me, this product feels more like an investment. Maybe the next time we ever plan to move, we might actually get some of our hefty damage deposit back, actually making this machine pay for itself.
